Abhith Kasala is a Junior at Gainesville High School, a dual enrollment student, and a scientific researcher at the University of Florida in Gainesville, Florida. He is a teen scientist, public speaker, and published author who believes "Understanding the problem, is half of the Solution." which he demonstrates through his novel scientific research.
His dynamic speeches inspire action on environmental issues and he is internationally recognized for his research on Global plastic Pollution and Novel Remediation Systems on the state, national, and international levels by NASA, NOAA, EPA, and more. Most recently, he spoke at the United Nations General Assembly Science Summit in New York City where he addressed 8 United Nations Sustainable Development Goals and the impact of his work in the sectors. Through competitions, he received the 3rd place grand award at the International Science and Engineering Fair in the category of “Earth and Environmental Sciences” where he represented his state. He was also a selected speaker for WEFTEC, the World’s largest conference for water quality and environmental sustainability. Additionally, he received the US Stockholm Junior Water Prize, multiple 1st place finishes at state competitions, and is a published author in the Florida Water Resources Journal. He will be speaking on his Novel research on the issue of microplastics' negative effects on humans and the environment and remediations of implementing sustainable water filtration systems on a global scale.
